A smiling young girl with dark hair styled in two buns, sitting at a table with a plate of three whole apples and sliced apple pieces.

Serves: 6

Ingredients

4 apples (2 apples variety 1, 2 apples variety 2)

1/2 tsp. cinnamon

1 Tbsp. honey

1/4 cup sunflower seed butter

Instructions

Step 1: Before cutting into the apples, look at the apple varieties. What do they

look like? What do they feel like? Use your eyes and hands to explore the apples.

Step 2: Lay out 2 paper plates. Label each plate with the names of the apple

varieties. If you don’t know the names, label the plates 1 and 2.

Step 3: Hold the apple with the bridge hold. Gently “saw” the knife back and

forth to cut the apple in half.

Step 4: Place the flat sides of each half on the cutting board. Cut each half into

8 wedges using the bridge cut. Repeat steps 3 and 4 with the other apple. Place

sliced apples on the labeled plates.

Step 5: In a small bowl, measure and add 1⁄4 cup Sunflower butter, 1 Tbsp. honey,

and 1⁄2 tsp. cinnamon. Stir until smooth and combined.

Step 6: Take a piece from each plate. Try each variety on its own and with the

Sunshine dip. How do they taste the same? How do they taste differently?
