Celebrating World Health Day
This year’s World Health Day theme is building a healthier, fairer world. Each year since 1950, the World Health Organization has observed April 7 as an opportunity for stakeholders around the globe to focus on one topic.
Our team at Small Bites Adventure Club fervently believes that every child, regardless of zip-code or race, should have equitable access to good food and high-quality food and nutrition education. Every child deserves to taste a delicious tomato in the summer and prepare a fresh salad in the Spring.
When children have opportunities to smell, taste, prepare delicious fruits and vegetables, they are more likely to eat and love these foods and build lifelong healthy habits. And when we support children in creating healthy habits and access to healthy foods, we can help prevent diseases such as cardiovascular disease, Type II diabetes, and some cancers.

Here are a few ideas that children can celebrate World Health Day this week:
Plant a garden and donate some of the produce to a food bank
Volunteer at a local food bank
Read a book about gardening, cooking or farmers
