Small Bites' Spring Success: Over 16,900 Bites of Veggies and Fruits!

This spring, over 3,400 students across Georgia explored, created, and tasted 5 new fruit or veggie-based recipes this spring, thanks to our amazing partners (Open Hand, Hand, Heart, & Soul Project, and HealthMPowers)!

Over 5 months, these students tried over 16,900 bites of fruits and veggies. Congrats to these adventurous eater. And a huge thank you to their educators, who took the time to lead hands-on cooking and food education!

Here’s a recap on the success:

  • 84% of educators reported that the hands-on cooking and tasting improved their students’ attitudes toward trying new foods

  • Many teachers reported Super Power Kale Pesto was their classroom’s favorite recipe (who knew kids love kale!)

Teachers connected hands-on cooking to academic and development skills such as:

  • Following directions

  • Participating in group discussions

  • Using descriptive words to talk about foods

  • Counting and measuring

Congratulations again to the Adventurous Eaters and their teachers across Georgia who tried new fruits and vegetables this Spring.
