Small Bites Adventure Club and Community Farmers Markets Bring Fresh Produce to Atlanta Families!
Summer is the peak season for fresh, delicious food: tomatoes, cucumbers, watermelon, and peaches. But, it can also be a time when people may need additional access to healthy food.
This summer, we partnered with Community Farmers Markets (CFM) to distribute over $1,600 of fruit and veggie coupons to over 320 families at five early care and education partners across metro Atlanta. Each of these early care programs has partnered with Small Bites Adventure Club in the last year to provide hands-on cooking with their students.
Community Farmers Markets was founded in 2011 with a mission to develop a local food infrastructure for long-term sustainability and meaningful community impact. In 2023, CFM served over 65,000 in-person shoppers and over 160 vendors at weekly markets. They also partner with Wholesome Wave Georgia to help SNAP recipients double the value of their dollar when spent on fruits and vegetables. That means $10 = $20!
At Small Bites Adventure Club, we are all about easy and accessible resources — and CFM is no different! Check out their website for seasonal recipes, tips on how to use SNAP/ EBT at their markets, and more!
