Partnering with HealthMPowers: The Gift of Edible Education at Home!
Drumroll…. We are so excited to announce our partnership with HealthMPowers!
HealthMPowers is a nonprofit organization that reaches over 500,000 Georgia youth a year in service of a bold mission to empower healthy habits and transforms environments where children live, learn and play.
You can purchase a Farm to Home Explorer Kit as a gift for a child, and also donate one at a special $20 rate for HealthMPowers. HealthMPowers staff will deliver these kits to children at one of the 14 Metro Atlanta Boys and Girls clubs. While most clubs are still at only 25% capacity, these home kits will be a critical tool in helping to bridge the gap between virtual learning and hands-on tools to increase fruit and vegetable consumption.
“I am so thrilled and honored to partner with Small Bites Adventure Club through this unique opportunity,” states Jennifer Owens, CEO and President of HealthMPowers. “At no time in recent history has a focus on health and wellness been more important. HealthMPowers serves thousands of children across Georgia and we know from both the data and seeing it first-hand that when kids interact with healthy food, learn where it comes from and explore its cultural meaning, they become more connected to it, and more inclined to eat healthy food.”
Farm to Home Explorer Kits guide children ages 4-12 on the magical journey from seed to farm to plate. Each kit will introduce children to farmers, fruits and vegetables. Hands-on STEAM activities celebrate diversity, agriculture, cooking, nature and nutrition.
Each kit includes:
Tools and guided activities for cooking, growing or exploring nature
Easy recipes featuring fruits and vegetables
Get to know a farmer card
Table Talk cards to engage family members
Personal journal for games and nature entries
Yummy and healthy snack
Collectible sticker and magnet
Video links that showcase chefs and farmers
Owens continues, “At this moment especially, we are delighted that this partnership will enable our Student Health Advocates to take home the health and wellness lessons they learn at school through HealthMPowers’ programming and model taste tests for their family with the Farm to Home Explorer Kits.”
Our goal is to deliver 600 kits by April 1, 2021. Will you help us? Make a donation here.
